Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has played down reports linking him with a move to Manchester City as a potential successor to Pep Guardiola.
Earlier in the week, several reports emerged linking the Blues boss with a potential return to the Etihad Stadium.
The Italian joined the London club in 2024 on a five-year deal and has enjoyed great success since his arrival, winning the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup last summer.
Maresca had previously worked at the Cityzens as an assistant to Guardiola, who could step down from his role at the end of the season.
“It doesn’t affect me at all because I know that is 100% speculation. And at this moment, there is no time for these kind of things.
“First of all, because I have a contract here until 2029 probably. And my focus, I said many times, is just about this club and I’m very proud to be here. But again, it’s speculation. One week ago I was in Italy, the same with Juventus. So I don’t pay attention because I know that is not true”, Maresca stated.
Guardiola could end his long-term stay at Man City next summer, leaving the club in the search for a replacement.
The Spaniard is arguably the greatest football manager in history, winning multiple laurels and accolades across spells in Spain, Germany and also in England.
The 54-year-old signed a contract extension at the Etihad last summer, keeping him contracted to the club until 2027, but could depart a year earlier than planned.
“It’s important to understand why this news was there but it is just speculation”, the Italian added.
Chelsea are fourth on the EPL standings and face Newcastle United in Saturday’s early kickoff clash at St James’ Park.
Man City, meanwhile are second on the standings and play host to struggling West Ham United on Saturday.
