Chidozie Awaziem has revealed that the Super Eagles remain focused on securing victory against Morocco and are unbothered about the support the home side might receive.
Nigeria face the 2025 African Cup of Nations host in the second semifinal clash tonight, after the conclusion of the other encounter between Senegal and Egypt.
The match is billed to take place at the 69,500- capacity Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, with the supporters of the Atlas Lions expected to make up the majority.
Morocco have played all of their five matches at the tournament at the same venue and have enjoyed a large support from their home fans so far.
Meanwhile, Nigeria will play their first match at the arena, having played three four times at the Fez Stadium and once at the Stade de Marrakesh.
“We saw the Moroccan team supporting us against the Algerians, and I know that some will still be supporting us”, Awaziem said in an interview.
Nigeria have won all of their five matches at the tournament and remain the only nation with a 100% record.
The Super Eagles have already breezed through Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Mozambique and Algeria and only Morocco stand between them and a second consecutive AFCON final.
The three-time African champions have also scored 14 times at the tournament, which is the most of any nation and is also their most prolific AFCON campaign in history, surpassing the 10 goals they scored in the 2000 edition.
“We don’t care about the support, we don’t care about the crowd we just want to focus on ourselves, not get distracted and try to get the job done.”
The Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium is the venue for tonight’s crucial semifinal clash between Nigeria and Morocco in a high-stakes encounter to determine who advances to the final of the 2025 AFCON tournament.
