Gabriel Jesus has ruled out a move away from Arsenal this month, revealing his desire to stay at the club beyond his current contract.
The Brazil forward joined the Gunners from Manchester City in 2022, but has endured an injury-hit spell since his arrival which has greatly limited his influence.
The 28-year-old only recently returned to action after a lengthy injury lay-off which kept him out of action for about 11 months.
His current contract expires in 2027, although talks of an extension looks very bleak as the Gunners still have Victor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz in the center forward position.
“I think my first target is to be healthy. This is my fourth season at Arsenal and unfortunately I played maybe one-and-a-half, two. Then the rest, with injuries”, Jesus said ahead of Arsenal’s UCL clash against Inter Milan on Tuesday.
“That happens. Never happened with me before but it happened here, I don’t know why. I don’t ask myself anymore. I just try to be fit and then my first target is to be healthy from now until the end of the season.
“Like I said before, my wish is to stay at Arsenal. And then I have a contract as well. Obviously if you ask me, like you did already, I want to extend my contrast.”
Arsenal head to the San Siro later today hoping to maintain their perfect start to the Champions League season.
Jesus is expected to play a part in the clash and could even get the nod to start, should Mikel Arteta ring some changes to the team.
“I want to stay and I want to win trophies with Arsenal because I came here with a purpose. Then that’s it. But obviously the reality is different.
“Sometimes it can go [another] way. But my focus is to stay healthy and then win trophies with Arsenal”, the Brazilian concluded.
Arsenal will then welcome Manchester United to Old Trafford next weekend, as they continue to fight for trophies on all four fronts this season.
