Tottenham Hotspur boss Thomas Frank was full of praise after his side delivered a commanding 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund in their 2025/2026 UEFA Champions League group stage clash at home, a performance he believes can become a turning point in their European campaign.
Spurs set the tone early under the lights, overwhelming the German side with intensity, control and precision.
From the opening whistle, Tottenham looked sharp and purposeful, pressing high and dictating the rhythm of the contest, much to the delight of the home crowd.
“Yeah, I really enjoyed the performance and the win of course,” the manager said. “I think especially the first half, I felt we were very good.
“I think we started exceptionally well. We were on top of them, pressed them, calm on the ball, produced chances, created opportunities, scored a good goal and kept going and then scored the second goal, which of course is also super important.”
Spurs were on the front foot and created 14 scoring chances, dominating the attacking play on their way to their home win over the Bundesliga side.
The Dane added: “So everything about the first half, I was extremely happy with. I think it’s definitely some of the best we’ve done.
“(In the) Second half, I would have loved us to keep the ball a bit better. I would have loved to have killed it with some of the big chances, just a 3-0.
“But you know, in football, it’s never easy, even if you play 11 against 10. Also because of the momentum they had to push a bit.”
The North London outfit extended an impressive European record, remaining unbeaten in their last 24 home European matches, a run that now includes the victory against the German side.
“And then of course we all knew it was an important win to get. And especially at home, of course, we haven’t been as confident.
“So the performance and the win, can we build on? And then I asked for the fans to help everyone, especially the team and the players, and they were exceptional.
“Especially in the first half, you felt it was one of the special European nights, you felt the energy was quite unique. So that was very nice,” he concluded.
With momentum now firmly on their side, Spurs will look to build on this statement win as they continue their Champions League journey, buoyed by confidence, clarity and a home crowd that rediscovered its European voice.
