Eze savours Wembley dream with Arsenal for Carabao Cup final

Eberechi Eze could barely hide his excitement after Arsenal booked their place at Wembley with a 4-2 aggregate victory over Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-final, sealing a spot in the first domestic final of the season.

The attacker completed the full 90 minutes at the Emirates Stadium as Kai Havertz’s late strike on the night confirmed progression, adding to Arsenal’s 3-2 advantage from the first leg.

With the final set for March 22, the occasion carries deep personal meaning for Eze, who described the moment as the fulfilment of a lifelong ambition.

“Of course, this is my club and from young, it’s been the dream,” said Eze. “So, to win with Arsenal, to achieve stuff with Arsenal, this is everything to me.

“You want to work as hard as you can, put in the type of performance that you need to put in, and for sure, I believe it will come, and I believe that we’ve got the confidence and the players to do it. We’ll keep pushing for it.”

Crucially, Eze is no stranger to the grand stage. The England international already knows what it takes to deliver at Wembley, having scored the decisive goal in Crystal Palace’s FA Cup final win over Manchester City last season.Drawing on that experience, he shared his thoughts on returning to the iconic venue.

“Special, special, special,” he said. “It’s a game that you want to play in. It’s the games that you want to put these types of performances in and yeah, it’s special to be there for sure.”

Back in north London, Arsenal’s persistence eventually paid off, with Havertz’s late finish igniting scenes of celebration both on the pitch and in the stands.

Eze was quick to acknowledge the role played by the home crowd, whose energy powered the team through a demanding contest.

“The supporters, you could see the energy throughout the whole stadium. To feel it, it was powerful and it’s a special moment for us.

“Big performance from the team. I think we worked so hard and put in the necessary performance to get to the final. I think the whole team has worked so hard today and you could see everybody at the end was just dead. So yeah, there’s those types of games that you want to fight in.”

With momentum firmly on their side, Arsenal now turn their focus to Wembley, where Eze and his teammates will look to crown their Carabao Cup journey with silverware on the grandest domestic stage.
