Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has chosen not to escalate tensions following Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior’s comments that the Gunners’ warm-up on Tuesday was “disrespectful.”
The incident occurred ahead of Chelsea’s 4-2 aggregate defeat in the Carabao Cup semi-final at the Emirates Stadium.
Sky Sports cameras captured Rosenior confronting Arsenal staff on the pitch.
“That’s your half – that’s your ******* half. ******* stay there,” Rosenior said.
Chelsea later admitted the warm-up disruption had “affected” their preparations. When asked about the situation during Friday’s press conference, Arteta remained measured.
“It’s his opinion and we respect everybody. At any moment one of the staff member went through that, we apologise and that’s it,” he said.
“It’s very common in football, especially with the goalkeepers and long balls and all that, so nothing there to comment.
“Sometimes it’s difficult because you cannot be aware constantly about everything and we are human beings, we react to things so it’s normal. I try to give the right example and if that’s the intention, that’s OK.”
Arsenal now turn their focus to upcoming fixtures, with Arteta keeping the squad’s attention on preparation rather than off-field disputes.
