Erling Haaland targets more goals in Man City’s title push

Erling Haaland admits he needs to be more clinical in front of goal as he looks to rediscover his form during a slight dip for Manchester City.

The Norwegian striker scored a late penalty to seal a 2-1 comeback win for Pep Guardiola’s side over Liverpool on Sunday, ending his goal drought.

The 25-year-old started the season in devastating form, but has seen his form drop over the past few months with only two penalty goals in his last eight league appearances.

Speaking during an interview, Haaland emphasized the need for improvement as he hopes to lead Man City’s title push this season.

“I haven’t scored enough goals since the start of this year, you can say, and I know that I need to improve,” Haaland admitted.

“I know I need to be more sharp, better at all of this, and this is something that I have to work on, I have to keep going because this is what everyone deserves and expects.”

Haaland tops the golden boot charts with 21 goals, but Brentford’s Igor Thiago is hot on his heels with 17.

Manchester City defeated Liverpool on Sunday to close the gap to league leaders Arsenal to six points and keep the title race alive.

The Cityzens host Fulham on Wednesday night and could reduce the gap to just three points ahead of the Gunners’ clash against Brentford on Thursday.

“I don’t want to speak about why I haven’t performed. I don’t think there’s any excuse. Fatigue is a lot is in the head”, Haaland continued.

“It’s a lot of games. Look at the schedule, it’s not easy, and for me, it’s about staying fit, don’t get injured.

“That’s the most important thing. And try to be ready to help the team.”
