Jack Grealish has confirmed that he will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 season for Everton, following surgery on a foot injury he suffered last January.
The on-loan Manchester City star sustained the injury during the Toffees shock 1-0 win at Aston Villa and has now confirmed initial fears which has ruled him out of the season.
Grealish joined Everton on a season-long loan deal last summer and immediately became a talisman in David Moyes’ setup, scoring twice and providing six assists until his injury.
The England forward went through surgery on Monday and will now return to the Cityzens to continue his recovery.
“Didn’t want the season to end like this but that’s football, gutted, Surgery done and now all focus on getting back fit. I know for sure I will come back fitter, stronger and better than before”, Grealish said in a statement on social media.
“The support I’ve had since coming to this unbelievable club has meant the world to me. The staff, my teammates and especially the fans have been incredible and I absolutely love representing this club.
Everton have already signed Tyrique George from Chelsea during the winter transfer window as an alternative for the injured Grealish.
Meanwhile, the injury also rules him out of selection for a spot at Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
It remains to be seen if Everton will be back for him at the end of the season, as he is unlikely to be in Pep Guardiola’s plans at Manchester City.

Everton return to action tonight when they welcome Bournemouth to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, hoping to continue their four-game unbeaten run in the league.
