Arne Slot has hailed Liverpool’s improvement in front of goal after a difficult spell, as they prepare to face relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest in the Premier League this weekend.
The Reds suffered a tough spell earlier in the season when their attacking outputs reduced, but have improved in recent outings.
The Premier League champions have scored more than twice per game in five of their last seven matches, only failing to do so during the 2-1 defeat to Manchester City and the 1-0 win over Sunderland earlier in the month.
Speaking during Thursday’s press conference, Slot welcomed the development and says there is room for more improvement as the Reds hope to bounce back.
“The teams we have faced more recently have been more entertaining than the ones we recently faced”, Slot stated.
“It will never be about us. That is my take. We will always press, we will always bring the ball out of the back, we always want to entertain. We don’t always achieve in that and sometimes that is because of us because we don’t execute things well enough, but it is mainly because the teams we are facing don’t want an entertaining game. I would want to do the same if I was facing Liverpool.”
Liverpool suffered a 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest in the reverse fixture, but will be hoping to spoil Vitor Pereira’s debut at the dugout of the club when both teams meet.
Pereira joined Forest last week as a replacement for Sean Dyche, becoming the club’s fourth permanent manager of the season and will be hoping for a fast start.
“It’s a boring answer, but things go back to normal. For such a large part of the season where we lost or drew games, we did not that deserve that”, Slot added.
“The amount of times we have created so many chances, more than enough to score one, two or three goals has been more than enough.
“Things have gone a bit more back to normal recently and you can see that in the results also.”
