Real Madrid’s Arbeloa defiant on title chances ahead of Celta Vigo clash

Alvaro Arbeloa has refused to give up on Real Madrid’s chances of winning the La Liga title ahead of their clash against Celta Vigo on Friday night.

The 15-time European champions suffered their second consecutive league defeat on Monday night after they were beaten 1-0 by Getafe, which has seen them drop to four points behind league leaders Barcelona.

Arbeloa has now demanded a swift response from the team and is confident that they can still reclaim the league title from their rivals.

“It will be a tough match, and we’re hopeful we can get the three points. There are 16 games left to play, and we’re four points behind. That’s all we’re thinking about, and as long as we can mathematically fight for the title, we will. I can’t imagine Real Madrid doing anything other than fighting”, Arbeloa stated.

“After two defeats, I understand the atmosphere isn’t the most positive, but in the dressing room, we know we’re going to fight for the league title, and there’s still a long way to go.”

However, Real Madrid will be without several key players for the clash, including Rodrygo, who tore his ACL during the defeat.

“It won’t be an easy away game at all, against a great team and a coach who is doing a magnificent job. Celta is a very well-coached team, they’ve won a lot of games recently and are confident and playing well”, Arboa added.

“There’s always a great atmosphere at that stadium whenever Real Madrid visits. It will be a very difficult and demanding away game.

We’ve suffered two consecutive defeats in La Liga, and at a club like Real Madrid, defeat is always difficult to handle because of the pressure, but we’re only focused on tomorrow’s match”, the Real Madrid interim coach continued.

“We’re aware of what we’re up against and the level we need to reach against such a great opponent. Everything will depend on our performance, our composure, and our confidence. The past doesn’t matter, and we’re only thinking about Balaídos.”

Real Madrid visit Celta Vigo on Friday night, hoping for a better performance as they look to close the gap to Barcelona on the standings.
