Pedro Neto could face disciplinary action from UEFA following an incident involving a ball boy during Chelsea’s Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain.
The episode occurred late in the game during Chelsea’s 5–2 defeat in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League round-of-16 tie at Parc des Princes.
As stoppage time ticked away, Neto rushed to retrieve the ball for a quick throw-in.
In the process, the Portuguese winger pushed a nearby ball boy, who then fell onto a chair beside the pitch.
The moment immediately triggered a brief confrontation, with players from both sides stepping in as tensions flared on the touchline.
Although the referee did not issue any punishment during the match, the incident has since caught the attention of UEFA’s disciplinary body.
The governing body has now opened formal proceedings against the 26-year-old forward over alleged “unsporting behaviour”.
In the aftermath of the match, Neto reportedly apologised to the ball boy for the incident, acknowledging the heated nature of the moment.
Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior also addressed the situation after the game, expressing regret if any actions from his team were inappropriate.
“If there was anything from our side that was wrong or out of order, I apologise on behalf of the club,” said Rosenior.
UEFA will now review the case before deciding whether further sanctions, potentially including a suspension, will be imposed on the Portugal international.
With the second leg still to come, the situation adds another layer of tension for the Blues as they prepare for the decisive showdown against PSG.
