Mikel Arteta has provided the latest update on the fitness of his squad ahead of Arsenal’s upcoming Premier League meeting with Everton.
Following the Gunners’ 1–1 draw away to Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Champions League, Arteta confirmed there were no fresh injury concerns within the squad.
However, two key players remain under observation as Arsenal prepare for a demanding schedule.
Captain Martin Odegaard and forward Leandro Trossard both missed the midweek trip to Germany, though the pair could still return before the upcoming international break.
Speaking ahead of their Everton showdown, Arteta explained that their availability would depend on further medical assessments.
“We’ll see,” Mikel said. “We will have to wait and see and speak to the doctors on whether they are involved or not.”
With Arsenal entering a crucial stretch that includes league fixtures, European commitments and a major domestic final, squad management has become a key focus for the Spanish coach.
When asked whether he had already decided on a starting line-up for the upcoming EFL Cup final, Arteta stressed that the hectic fixture list makes long-term planning difficult.
“No, because we come from five games in very short periods of time again.
“You just have to go game by game, understanding who can play a certain amount of minutes, who doesn’t.
“Maybe for the next game you have an idea of what you can do, but two or three games away is quite difficult at the moment.”
The demanding schedule does not end there. After the upcoming matches, several Arsenal players will leave the club to join their national teams for international duty.
Despite the additional workload, Arteta revealed that communication between the club and national team managers remains strong to ensure players are managed carefully.
“We have really good communication with most of them and we have a thorough decision just like they do on how we’re doing.
“They have communication with the players themselves as well and what they expect, and that was a way to see how everybody is, have those conversations and make the right decisions.”
As the Gunners continue to juggle domestic and European ambitions, Arteta will be hoping his squad can stay fit and maintain momentum during what promises to be a defining phase of the season.
