Kieran Trippier set for emotional Newcastle United exit

Kieran Trippier is set to bring the curtain down on his Newcastle United career, confirming he will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.

After arriving from Atletico Madrid, the experienced right-back quickly became a cornerstone at St James’ Park.

Over the course of his five-season spell, Trippier made 157 appearances, playing a pivotal role as Newcastle surged back into the spotlight.

Notably, he was instrumental in guiding the Magpies into two Champions League campaigns, while also helping the club secure Carabao Cup glory last season: a moment that stands out as a defining highlight in his career.

As the season approaches its final whistle, Trippier reflected on his journey with deep emotion, signaling the end of an era for both player and club.

“The time has come to leave this amazing club after four-and-a-half years. This is where I have felt most at home. It’s emotional and I’m really going to miss it,” Trippier said.

“I want to say a massive thank you to the supporters for all the support through the good and the bad times. You’ve always supported me, always stood by me.

“To my team-mates, it’s going to be emotional. It’s been an amazing journey with you guys. I’m going to miss you all but to win a trophy with you guys was really special – the best of my career.

“And to Eddie Howe, all the coaching staff and the team behind the scenes, a massive thank you. The gaffer had the trust – twice – to sign me, gave me the opportunity to represent and captain this great club and most importantly, we managed to win a trophy.

“I’m going to miss everyone at the club. Thank you.”

Meanwhile, Eddie Howe’s men will now begin to look ahead, preparing for life after one of their most influential leaders in recent years.

As the final fixtures approach, all eyes will be on Trippier as he aims to sign off his Newcastle chapter on a high note.
