Liverpool kicked off a defining stretch in their season with a composed 2-0 victory over Fulham, and Arne Slot believes it sets the perfect tone for the challenges ahead.
The Reds, eager to bounce back, delivered when it mattered most to revive their top-five ambitions.
Right from the first whistle, Liverpool showed intent, pressing high and dictating the tempo.
As a result, their early dominance paid dividends when Rio Ngumoha and Mohamed Salah both found the net in the first half, effectively snapping a frustrating three-game losing streak.
Moreover, the clean sheet will serve as a major confidence boost heading into tougher fixtures.
With momentum now shifting in their favour, Slot was quick to underline the importance of defensive solidity as his side prepares for high-stakes encounters.
“I’m really happy with the clean sheet because that is what you need in almost every game but definitely we need that on Tuesday,” Slot told Sky Sports.
Looking ahead, the Liverpool boss acknowledged the magnitude of the week, with a decisive Champions League showdown against Paris Saint-Germain looming, followed swiftly by a heated derby clash against Everton.
Consequently, squad management and recovery become just as critical as tactics on the pitch.
“It was a good first step going into a massive week because it’s not only PSG, it’s also Everton.
“This is a good start to the week but unfortunately, we weren’t so lucky that we played Wednesday-Tuesday.
“That means three games in six days, so there are only two days of rest.”
He continued: “I told them how important recovery is because they’ve experienced how intense the game was in Paris.
“The game will not be less intense in two days because the fans will be behind us and the players will give everything they have to turn things around.
“Therefore, you need to be top fit which is not easy if you have three games in six days. But we are up for it, we are ready for it and Anfield will be ready for it as I noticed today as well.”
As the fixtures come thick and fast, Liverpool now shift gears towards Europe, knowing that consistency, energy, and Anfield’s atmosphere could prove decisive in shaping their season.
