Haaland calls for focus ahead of Manchester City’s clash at Burnley

Erling Haaland has urged Manchester City to maintain concentration in the Premier League title race after their 2-1 win over Arsenal on Sunday.

The Cityzens reduced the gap at the top of the standings to just three points after Sunday’s crucial victory and now have a big chance to go top with a win over Burnley on Wednesday.

Haaland, who scored the decisive goal in the encounter, believes his teammates must keep their calm and stay focused on the task at hand to avoid falling short in their title bid.

“Every game is a final. Now when we are done speaking here, it’s starting to prepare for Burnley. That game is as important as this one”, Haaland said.

“We need to focus. We need to stay humble, don’t think too much and focus on the next game.”

Manchester City defeated Arsenal 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday to blow the title race wide open.

Rayan Cherki gave them the lead in the 16th minute, but an error at the back by Gianluigi Donnarumma allowed Arsenal a way back into the clash, with Kai Havertz nicking the goal.

However, Haaland struck in the second half to complete the win for City, who now have the advantage in the title race.

“I was quite happy, I have to be honest. It was a great moment for me. A great win,” Haaland said after the game.

“I think it’s always like this, lots of fighting and these kind of things. What can I say, it’s always nice. “It’s for others to decide if I won the battle or not.

“In that moment of the goal I won it. It was a good cross, and the finish was perfect. I think it was a great goal and a decisive moment and in the end we won”, he concluded.

Manchester City will now head to Turf Moor on Wednesday, knowing that a win would lift them to the top of the standings and put them in pole position to win the Premier League title.
