Ferdi Kadioglu has heaped praises on his Brighton teammates after their dominant 3-0 win over Chelsea in the Premier League on Tuesday night.
The Seagulls completed the double over the Blues, after also winning the reverse fixture 3-1, after delivering a superb performance where they could have even scored more goals.
Brighton also moved ahead of Chelsea to sixth on the league standings with a handful of matches left, keeping their European dreams alive.
Speaking after the result, Kadioglu, who opened scoring in the encounter, hailed the overall team’s effort and labelled the performance as their best in a while.
“Probably. Last weeks we’ve been in a good flow”, Kadioglu remarked.
“We had a difficult period. After that, we’re doing very well. Today we didn’t let them breathe. Amazing game from every player. We have to continue like this as we have some goals this season.”
Chelsea ended the match without an effort on goal and they equalled an unwanted 114-year record with their latest defeat, losing five consecutive games in the Premier League without scoring a goal.
Kadioglu gave Brighton the perfect start after just just three minutes when he fired into the net after a clearance from Hato fell into his path.
Brighton came close to doubling their advantage before the break and wasted several chances, the best of the bunch falling to Yankuba Minteh whose weak effort was cleared off the line by Trevoh Chalobah.
The second goal came in the second half, with Jack Hinshelwood scoring after a fast break, before Danny Welbeck came off the bench to complete the rout in stoppage-time.
“We knew from the beginning that we have to play hard. Chelsea have good players”, Kadioglu added.
“If you are tight with them, they can’t do much. I think we did that amazing.”
Brighton have picked up 19 points from a possible 24 in recent weeks and will now head to Newcastle United in their next outing hoping to continue their impressive form.
