Newcastle United provide Livramento injury update ahead of Arsenal clash

Newcastle United have provided the latest injury update on defender Tino Livramento ahead of their crucial Premier League meeting with Arsenal on Saturday.

The England international has endured an injury-disrupted campaign and suffered another thigh injury in last weekend’s defeat to Bournemouth.

Speaking during Friday’s pre-match press conference, Eddie Howe revealed that the defender might miss the remainder of the season, putting his hopes of playing for England at the World Cup at risk.

“With Tino, he went for a scan initially. We don’t think it’s a bad injury. We will wait and see whether he will play again this season. He is due to have another scan at the weekend to determine the full extent of his time out”, Howe confirmed.

Newcastle United head to Arsenal on the back of a poor form and needing a win to ease growing pressure on Howe.

The Magpies have lost their last four matches across all competitions, including recent disappointments against Crystal Palace and Bournemouth.

They will now have to face Arsenal on Saturday without their first-choice right-back, further reducing their chances of getting a result.

“Tino is very level-headed, very stable, mentally. I think he’s had a frustrating season, such a good season last year. He was outstanding, was fit and available and really contributed to what we delivered”, Howe added.

“This year has been different. That’s just the life of a footballer, I’m afraid. He has never been able to get that run of games to find his best form. He is an outstanding player, we just hope he has a better run around the corner.”

Livramento will hope the injury problem is not too serious and he can return to action before the end of the season, which would boost his chances of making Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup this summer
