Unai Emery has revealed that Amadou Onana will undergo a late fitness test ahead of Aston Villa’s crucial Europa League semi-final clash with Nottingham Forest.
As the Villans gear up for the first leg at the City Ground, Emery confirmed that the Belgian midfielder remains a doubt after missing the weekend defeat to Fulham FC due to a knock.
However, the manager is still hopeful Onana could feature if he responds well in training.
“We train this afternoon, and we will see how he is responding, if he’s feeling good to play tomorrow,” said Emery ahead of the European showdown.
“He was testing yesterday and today we must test again how he is feeling, and how we can get the players with some pain to play tomorrow.”
Meanwhile, Villa continue to manage other squad limitations heading into the high-stakes encounter.
Boubacar Kamara remains sidelined with a long-term injury, while Ross Barkley and Alysson are unavailable after being left out of the Europa League squad.
With kickoff fast approaching, Villa are entering the tie balancing fitness concerns and tactical preparation.
It’s now a race against time for Onana: one final test standing between him and a potential role in a defining European night.
