Marquinhos hails PSG’s Champions League win over Bayern Munich

Marquinhos has heaped praises on Paris Saint-Germain’s performance after their entertaining 5-4 win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The European champions edged the first leg of their semifinal encounter on Tuesday night and only take a slender one-goal lead into next week’s second leg encounter at the Allianz Arena.

The match also set a new record for the most goals in a Champions League semifinal, with the game offering pure excitement over the course of 90 minutes.

Reacting after the match, Marquinhos applauded his team’s performance although be believes they can improve ahead of the second leg.

“Every football fan loves a game like that. It was a crazy game, two teams who play similar, aggressive and intense. We are so happy that we were able to come away with the win”, Marquinhos said.

“We are frustrated with the goals we conceded but we still have the one-goal advantage. We need to go in with the right mentality. We are really happy with the quality of the goals we scored.”

Ousmane Dembele (2), Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (2) and Joao Neves scored for Paris Saint-Germain, while Harry Kane, Michael Olise, Dayot Upamecano and Luis Diaz got on the scoresheet for Bayern Munich in the clash.

Meanwhile, German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer became the first goalkeeper in the last 16 Champions League seasons to concede five goals in a knockout tie without making a single save.

“I think next week will be the same crazy game, two teams that want to score. We need to go there with the same mentality and personality so we can get the same amazing job done. We need a lot of effort to win. We need to rest because this game made us tired”, Marquinhos added.

The winner of this tie will go ahead to face either Arsenal or Atletico Madrid in the final.
