Fulham get Alex Iwobi injury boost ahead of Wolves clash

Fulham head coach Marco Silva has confirmed that Alex Iwobi is back in contention for a return to action ahead of Sunday’s clash at Wolves.

The Cottagers head to the Premier League’s bottom side, hoping to bounce back from their two-game losing streak.

Ahead of the clash, they have been handed a major boost with the possible return of Super Eagles midfielder Iwobi, whose presence has been greatly missed over the last few weeks.

The 30-year-old has missed their last three matches with a hamstring injury which he suffered during a 0-0 draw with Brentford in April.

“Alex is back in contention for the game. Last week, he had some training sessions with us. This week, throughout the week, he’s been working with us. It’s been a good week for him”, Marco Silva said during his pre-match press conference.

“He’s a big player for us, definitely. He’s a player who’s very versatile, who can play in many different position”, the Fulham boss added.

Fulham only picked up three points from three games in Iwobi’s absence and will be buoyed by his return as they chase their very bleak hopes of qualifying for European football.

“He’s also a player that can add extra quality in the decision making. In all aspects of the game he’s a key player for us and he’s shown it again this season. It’s a boost. Definitely, it’s a boost”, Silva continued.

“Joachim Andersen is going to be out as you know, and Sessegnon is still out. All the other players, they are going to be available for the game.”

Fulham will then conclude their season with a home game against Newcastle United on May 24, hoping for a strong finish to the season.
