William Saliba has expressed confidence in Arsenal’s chances of sealing a win ahead of the UEFA Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain next weekend.
The Gunners face the defending champions in their first UCL final since 2006, as they continue their hunt for a first ever win in the competition.
Arsenal ended their 22-year wait for a Premier League title after securing the title this season and will now head into the clash in full confidence and hoping for a win.
While PSG thrashed Inter Milan 5-0 in last season’s final, Arsenal pose a different threat entirely according to Saliba.
“It would mean a lot. Now we have started with the Premier League, it is my first one, so I am happy. But I am not full. I want more. And there is a big chance next week in the Champions League, so we have to give everything”, Saliba said.
“They were scary last year, and they’re still scary this year. So nothing has changed. We know that if we want to beat them, we have to be 100%. We have the best defence this season. And when you are the best, you want to play the best so we are so happy to have attackers like this to play against us next Saturday and I hope we will win that battle.”
Arsenal remain unbeaten in the Champions League this season and eliminated Atletico Madrid in their semifinal encounter.
PSG, on the other hand, defeated Bayern Munich in the other semifinal encounter, sealing a 6-5 win on aggregate.
“I knew it would be hard to win the Premier League but of course for three years we finished second, and it was hard because those first two years we deserved to win the Premier League,” Saliba added.
“Every game in the Premier League is so hard, even if you play the bottom team. Finally we won the league and we have to go again next season.”
The UEFA Champions League final will hold in Budapest on Sunday, with kickoff at 5 PM West African time.
