Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen has completed a season-long loan move to French Ligue 1 club RC Strasbourg as the Blues continue to manage their goalkeeping options ahead of the new campaign.
The 24-year-old Denmark international joined Chelsea in the summer of 2024 and went on to make 36 appearances for the club across his first two seasons at Stamford Bridge.
The temporary move to France will give Jorgensen an opportunity to play more regularly while continuing his development in one of Europe’s major leagues.
Jorgensen played an important role in Chelsea’s successful 2024-25 UEFA Conference League campaign.
The goalkeeper started all but one of the club’s matches in the competition as Chelsea went on to lift the trophy in May 2025.
His contribution to that European run was followed by another major honour later that summer, when Jorgensen was part of the Chelsea squad that became FIFA Club World Cup champions.
Those achievements have added valuable experience to the goalkeeper’s career despite his relatively young age.
Jorgensen featured 12 times for Chelsea last season, with his appearances spread across four different competitions.
He also played his part as the Blues progressed to the semi-finals of both domestic cup competitions.
However, competition for places at Stamford Bridge means regular first-team football is not guaranteed.
The move to Strasbourg could therefore provide Jorgensen with the consistent playing time needed to take another step forward.
For Chelsea, the loan also allows the club to continue monitoring his development while he gains experience in French football.
