Victor Munoz believes his remarkable 2026 can get even better as he prepares to begin a new chapter with Liverpool.
The 23-year-old forward completed his move to the Reds earlier this summer while representing Spain at the World Cup in North America, capping a remarkable rise that has seen his career accelerate in the space of just a few months.
Munoz had already made headlines before joining Liverpool.
After an impressive campaign in La Liga with Osasuna, the forward earned his Spain debut in March and scored on his first international appearance.
He then became part of Spain’s World Cup-winning squad.
Now, with a move to Anfield added to that extraordinary run of events, Munoz is determined to make the opportunity count.
“Stuff’s happened really, really quickly this whole year, but as a person I try to take these things in my stride and calmly.
“But it has been an amazing year with everything that’s happened and everything’s been really positive as well.
“I’ve been very happy how things went, playing in Spain and then getting the chance to represent the country at the World Cup – that was like a dream come true, being a part of all that.
“And now signing for Liverpool, it means that the year’s going to continue and hopefully end in a real positive way as well.”
With Liverpool preparing for their 2026/27 Premier League campaign, Munoz is eager to experience competitive football in England for the first time.
The Reds begin their league campaign away to Newcastle United on Sunday, giving the Spanish forward an immediate taste of the intensity he has been preparing for.
“I can’t wait to get under way with playing in the league season.
“But in terms of my aims and objectives, initial ones are to get used to the pace and the speed of the game here in England, to grow as a player and also to just try to improve with every day that goes by in training and then in games.”
Munoz has already enjoyed brief opportunities to experience the Anfield atmosphere during pre-season, featuring against AS Monaco and Como 1907.
Those appearances have given him an early glimpse of what awaits when competitive football arrives.
The forward admits his first impressions of playing at Anfield have left him eager for more.
“My first impressions of getting that taste of things at Anfield were amazing,” he said.
“To see the stadium with that amount of fans in for a pre-season game was fantastic, and I think things are only going to get better and better.
“I’m coming here having not played that much football of late with the injury I [had], so it’s a process at the moment. It’s a settling-in process.
“I think things will get better and better, as I say, with more and more training, taking part in sessions and featuring in games with the team.
“So, I’m looking forward to it all going positively as time passes.”
The forward’s focus is therefore not simply on making an immediate impact but also on adapting to the physical demands and tactical expectations of English football.
One major advantage for Munoz is his relationship with head coach Andoni Iraola.
The shared Spanish language has helped the Liverpool manager communicate tactical instructions clearly, particularly when explaining movements, pressing triggers and attacking runs.
“He can explain all the tactical stuff that he wants to get over to me, explain to me certain game situations and runs and movements that he wants me to do alongside my teammates and to fit in with them.
“I’m totally aware that he really favours this constant high press and he’s always searching to find space in behind defences, and I think that’s something which I’m hopeful will suit my game.
“Certainly the training sessions that we’ve had up to now, we’ve been really trying to work on all this stuff that I mentioned and put it into practice.”
Munoz’s pace, movement and willingness to press could make him an intriguing addition to Iraola’s attacking system.
His priority now is to settle quickly, build his fitness and understand the demands of Premier League football.
The Newcastle trip could come too soon for a major role, but the season is long and Liverpool will need depth across a demanding campaign.
For Munoz, the target is simple: turn an already unforgettable year into the beginning of something much bigger at Anfield.
