Simeone equals Luis Aragones’ historic LaLiga wins record at Atletico Madrid

Diego Simeone has moved level with Atletico Madrid legend Luis Aragones in the LaLiga history books after recording his 344th league victory as a head coach.

The Argentine reached the landmark on Saturday, October 31, following Atletico’s victory over Levante, drawing level with Aragonés as the manager with the most wins in the competition’s history.

It is another major achievement in Simeone’s remarkable spell at the Madrid club, where he has established himself as one of the most successful managers in Atletico’s history.

Simeone needed 565 LaLiga matches to reach the 344-win mark, matching a record previously held outright by Aragonés, whose legacy remains deeply connected to the club.

The milestone further underlines the consistency Simeone has brought to Atletico since taking charge. His influence has extended beyond individual results, with the club enjoying sustained success and becoming a regular force in Spanish and European football under his leadership.

Interestingly, Simeone had already moved ahead of Aragonés in Atletico’s all-competition managerial records. The Argentine has registered 479 victories in 813 official matches, while Aragonés finished his managerial record at the club with 308 wins from 612 games.

That comparison highlights Simeone’s extraordinary contribution across different competitions, with the latest LaLiga achievement adding another layer to his place in Atletico’s history.

The 56-year-old has also delivered eight trophies during his time in charge, two more than Aragonés managed with the club. His silverware record, combined with his remarkable number of victories, places him among the most influential figures to have occupied Atletico’s dugout.

For Simeone, matching Aragonés is more than another statistical achievement. It connects his era at the club with the legacy of one of Atletico’s most celebrated figures, while reinforcing the scale of his own accomplishments.

With 344 LaLiga victories now to his name, Simeone has secured a place alongside Aragonés at the summit of the competition’s managerial records. The achievement is a fitting reflection of his longevity, consistency and enduring impact on Atletico Madrid and Spanish football.
