Tottenham Hotspur have offered support to Destiny Udogie, after the defender was allegedly threatened with a gun earlier in the season.
The Italy defender has been identified as the English Premier League footballer who was threatened with a gun in London in an incident that occurred on the 6th of September.
The 22-year-old played 73 minutes of Spurs 4-0 thrashing of Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.
After the match, the North London club released a statement confirming their support for the left-back following the incidence.
“We have been providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so”, Spurs revealed in a statement.
“Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment any further.”
Udogie joined Spurs in a £15 million deal from Italian side Udinese in 2022, but spent the rest of that campaign on loan at the club.
He returned to England the following summer and has made over 70 appearances for Tottenham in all competitions, including featuring in 10 matches this season.
“Police were called at 11.14pm on Saturday September 6, to reports a man in his 20s had been threatened with a firearm.
Officers spoke to the victim and during the course of their investigation it was also reported another man in his 20s had also allegedly been blackmailed and threatened by the same individual”, they continued.
“No injuries were reported in either incident. A 31-year-old man was arrested on Monday September 8 on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent, blackmail and driving without a license. He has been bailed while enquiries continue.”
Tottenham continued their unbeaten start to the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League campaign with a comprehensive win over Copenhagen on Tuesday.
Brennan Johnson, Wilson Odobert, Micky Van de Ven and Joao Palhinha were all on the scoresheet, while Richarlison missed a late penalty in the big win.
The club will be back in action in the English Premier League this weekend in a repeat of the 2025 UEFA Europa League final, when they host Manchester United.
