Szoboszlai admits Liverpool are “in a bad place” after heavy Anfield defeat

Liverpool’s night unraveled quickly at Anfield as the Reds fell 4-1 in a tough league-phase encounter.

Ivan Perisic struck first from the spot, before Guus Til and Couhaib Driouech’s brace sealed a decisive win for the visitors.

Dominik Szoboszlai briefly lifted the mood with a first-half equaliser, but it wasn’t enough to turn the tide.

Szoboszlai didn’t hide his frustration after the final whistle.

“We are just angry that we lost. I think we didn’t even play bad in the first half – we created a lot of chances. In the second half it went really wrong,” he told TNT Sports.

Liverpool’s response to conceding early showed promise. The Hungarian believed the first-half performance had the right intentions.

“We went 1-0 down early and then you see the reaction from us in the first half, I think we did good after. We played some good football, we created a lot of chances. It’s so hard to find the words. We are just in a bad place right now.

“I think we concede too easy goals. That is our problem right now. I think a team like us, we have to do better, we have to defend better. We know we are a top team, we have really good qualities, but everything falls not in our way. It’s really difficult at the moment but we have to stick together and go from there.”

He added: “We don’t have the momentum right now, I think. What I said, everything falls not in our way right now – even like the duels, the 50-50 chances. It’s really difficult. But what I said, we have to stick together and go from there, and I know we will find a way out of this.”

The Reds now face a test of resilience. Their task is to regroup, defend better, and rediscover the spark that once made them dominant.
