Niamh Charles believes Chelsea showed their true firepower in a dazzling 6-0 win over Roma at Stamford Bridge.
It was a performance full of verve, confidence and sharp attacking play.
Chelsea looked fluid from the start. An early own goal opened the floodgates.
From that moment, the weekend loss to Everton faded as the goals kept coming and the crowd found its rhythm.
Charles was electric from left-back. Her constant forward runs and involvement in the third goal underlined her impact.
After the match, she described the night with genuine joy.
“It was really good performance all round,” she said.
“It was an enjoyable night for the players that started and the players that came off the bench. There were lots of different scorers, and lots of different types of goals.
“I really enjoyed it. I love being out there, I love being in front of our home fans at Stamford Bridge. We all felt connected and the rhythm of the team felt really good.”
The Blues now sit third in the Champions League standings.
A trip to Wolfsburg next week offers a chance to seal direct qualification to the quarter-finals.
Charles believes the team can carry this European confidence on the road.
“We’re looking forward to going there next week off the back of this result,” she continued.
“We want to challenge ourselves and finish the year really strongly. Hopefully we can go there and put on a similar performance.”
Chelsea’s six-goal show was the perfect bounce-back.
And with the squad hitting top gear again, momentum is clearly back in blue.
