Chelsea and Bournemouth share spoils in Stamford Bridge thriller

Chelsea were held to a dramatic 2-2 draw by Bournemouth in a match-day 19 fixture in Tuesday’s English Premier League clash at the Stamford Bridge.

The Blues were winless in their last two league matches, including a 2-1 defeat in front of the Stanford Bridge faithfuls to Aston Villa last weekend.

Bournemouth, on the other hand, were without a win in their last nine matches and had dropped out of the top half.

Moises Caicedo earned an early caution in the clash, ruling him out of next weekend’s crucial fixture against Manchester City.

The visitors then gained momentum and took the lead inside six minutes as David Brooks scored from a rebound after the initial effort had been pushed back by Robert Sanchez.

The goal survived a VAR check for handball against the Bournemouth player as they grabbed an early advantage in the clash.

Chelsea then threatened an Semenyo brought down Estevao inside the box, leading to a penalty kick after a pitchside review by the center referee.

Cole Palmer stepped up and scored from the spot despite the best efforts of Petrovic in the visitors goal.

Enzo Fernandez then put the Blues ahead in the 23rd minute, firing home emphatically after he was set up by countryman Garnacho.

However, the Cherries were back on level terms before halftime as Justin Kluivert tapped home after another long throw from Semenyo.

Bournemouth were denied a penalty early in the second half for a handball by Gusto in the penalty box, before Petrovic denied Estevao with a fine save.

Unal could have won it at the death for the visitors, but he blazed over from close-range after he was set up by Adli.

The match ended 2-2 as Chelsea remain fifth with 30 points, two behind fourth-placed Liverpool who have a game in hand, while Bournemouth are 15th with 23 points.
