Super Eagles forward Umar Sadiq has shared his excitement after sealing a permanent transfer from Real Sociedad to Valencia.
The Nigerian forward rose to prominence during his time at Almeria in the Spanish second division and earned a high-profile move to Real Sociedad in 2022.
However, he suffered an unfortunate anterior cruciate ligament injury only a few days after scoring on his debut for the club, ruling him out for long-term.
The 28-year-old has struggled to regain that form and joined Valencia on a loan deal in January 2025, where he scored six times in 19 appearances.
Both clubs failed to agree on a transfer fee in the summer as the forward remained at his parent club, but he has now completed a move to Los Che on a two-and-a-half year deal until June 2028.
“I’m very excited and happy. I’ve been waiting since last summer and, finally, I’m here”, Sadiq stated.
“I’m the happiest guy in the world. I wanted to come back here; I’ve done everything possible. The club has also made the greatest possible effort. I’m very happy to return.
“Valencia CF is one of the biggest clubs in Spain, and you can feel it in the culture and the people: they never abandon the club”, the 28-year-old added.
“One of the things that made me come back is ambition. Last season I saw how the fans demanded results, and that brought out the best in me. Even though I came for half a season, I knew this was the best place to be and to show what I can do.”
Valencia will pay €5 million for the Super Eagles forward, who will be hoping to rediscover the form he showed during his time on loan at the club last season.
Sadiq could be in contention to make his debut for the club when they welcome Elche to the Mestalla on Saturday night.
