Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has shut down exit talks regarding Cole Palmer, revealing that the player is very committed a long-term stay at the club.
Reports have emerged this month that the 23-year-old feels unsettled in London and would prefer return to Manchester to join boyhood club Manchester United.
The England forward signed a two-year extension in 2024, keeping him contracted to Chelsea until 2033 after a brilliant start to life at the club.
Speaking during his prematch conference ahead of the clash against Napoli on Wednesday, Rosenior disregarded every news as false.
“There’s no reason for assurance. It’s so unrealistic. It’s come from nowhere. There’s nothing in it. There’s no reason to have the conversation. That’s where I’m at”, the Chelsea gaffer stated.
“Cole is very happy. I’ve had numerous conversations with him. Our thoughts are on how we can make this team better, how he can improve and how I can help him.
“He loves being here and he wants to be a Chelsea player. You can’t stop speculation, but some speculation is so far from the truth. There’s no point in having a discussion about it.”
Chelsea face Napoli in the final match of the league-phase tonight, eyeing victory to keep their position in the top-eight and book automatic qualification for the Round of 16.
Palmer has traveled with the squad, but his participation is under doubt over fitness concerns which has disrupted his season so far.
The 23-year-old has only played once in the Champions League this season, but could make an appearance in Wednesday’s clash in Naples.
“I’m not surprised at the timing,” Rosenior added.
“A new manager comes in and all of a sudden there’s people unsettled. It’s not true. Cole’s here, he’s very happy and I can’t wait to see him back on the pitch.”
