Tottenham Hotspur head coach Thomas Frank has pushed back against growing criticism of the club’s ownership, insisting it is too early to pass judgment after what many perceived as a quiet transfer window.
Instead, the Spurs boss has urged supporters to assess the board’s ambition over the next two transfer periods.
The Lilywhites added Conor Gallagher and Souza to their ranks last month, yet momentum in the market stalled after missing out on high-profile targets Antoine Semenyo and Andy Robertson.
Frank, however, was quick to defend Tottenham’s hierarchy and provide context.
“They have very, very serious owners,” he said. “I can only laugh about that. I speak to them, I’m together with them.”
Switching play to the bigger picture, Frank stressed that January windows are rarely a true reflection of long-term intent.
“It’s a little bit unfair to judge them on a January transfer window. That’s the only window they have been in charge.
“Judge them after the next window and the following window. I understand there is a lot of scrutiny about the club. That’s fair. But let’s be fair.”
