Sesko targets top-four finish with Manchester United

Benjamin Sesko believes Manchester United can finish in the top-four after their resurgent run which included a last-gasp 1-1 draw at West Ham United on Tuesday.

The Red Devils have enjoyed an impressive form since the arrival of caretaker manager Michael Carrick, winning four of their five matches in charge.

The former Middlesbrough manager had been appointed on an interim basis to replace Ruben Amorim, who was dismissed earlier in the year.

The Portuguese led the club to a 15th place finish in the Premier League last season, while they also lost 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final, ending their hopes of European football for this campaign.

“It was just one of those games that was not going to be that easy because especially they were stepping back, they were really compact, they were trying to go for the counter-attacks,” Sesko revealed his stance on the draw against West Ham on Tuesday night.

“It’s just something that we have to learn from. I think everyone wanted it, everyone was trying to win the game, to score, to fight for each other.

“Unfortunately that didn’t happen, but at least we got a draw, which is important in the end.

“I felt amazing because at least I know that, once again, I could help the team by trying to secure at least one point.

“It’s a great feeling for me as well knowing that I can help the team in all kinds of moments. Obviously without my teammates, I couldn’t do it. So I’m looking forward to more moments like this”, the Slovenian added.

Sesko had come on as a second half substitute in the match against the Hammers and grabbed a stunning equalizer in stoppage-time to secure a valuable point.

The draw leaves Manchester United in fourth position and without a league defeat so far this year, as they look on course to seal a Champions League spot.

“We are living for each other, we are doing everything to win the games, to secure the Champions League spot because we believe that we have the team for it”, Sesko continued.

“We have the quality and yeah, we’re going to fight towards it. Unfortunately, the game was like it was. We have to now look forward to the next game and try to win it.”

Manchester United have a two-week break before their next league game when they visit Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, hoping for another win.
