Liam Rosenior expressed pride in Chelsea’s display, although he was left disappointed on the outcome after their narrow 1-0 home loss to Manchester United on Saturday night.
The Blues’ poor form continued as they suffered their fourth straight league defeat on Saturday, which further dented their hopes of securing an automatic Champions League spot.
They have also failed to score in four consecutive Premier League matches for the first time in 28 years, with defeats against Newcastle United, Everton and Manchester City as well during this run.
However, Rosenior believes the team showed many signs of improvement and is looking ahead to their next game on Tuesday to end their poor run of form.
“Up until the box, we were very good. I can only say what I saw, I thought we were the dominant team from minute one until the end of the game”, Rosenior said.
“But to lose this game in the manner we did is extremely disappointing because we had many opportunities to win it.
“It’s been a difficult spell. We’re making key errors in key moments and we’re not taking advantage of the chances we’re creating.
“When you do that and you don’t win games of football, it has to turnaround quickly”, the Englishman added.
The prematch talk was dominated by protests from supporters of the club against the ownership and the return of Enzo Fernandez to the team after a two-game suspension.
Despite their dominance and hitting the woodwork three times in the clash, it was Matheus Cunha’s goal before halftime which sealed Manchester United’s win, coming from Bruno Fernandes’ 18th league assist of the season.
“I’m delighted we have a game on Tuesday to get this out of our system and we have to go to Brighton and put things right”, Rosenior continued.
“We created many chances today. It’s not about the creation of the chances, but the taking of them.
“We hit the woodwork four times, so we’re not far away”, he concluded.
Chelsea now head into Tuesday night’s clash against Brighton, aiming for a win to keep their slim hopes of qualifying for the Champions League alive.
