Turkish champions Galatasaray have received a major boost ahead of their Champions League playoff second leg clash against Italian side Juventus.
Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, who had been a doubt ahead of the clash has returned to full training and is in contention for a starting role in the crucial clash.
The Turkish side head to the Allianz Stadium on Wednesday, hoping to build on their 5-2 advantage from the first leg.
Despite not scoring in that encounter, Osimhen was a constant threat all through the match and even provided the assists for two of his side’s five goals.
However, it was discovered that he had been nursing a knee injury after the match and his participation in tomorrow’s clash had been uncertain.
The 27-year-old was absent from Galatasaray’s squad during last weekend’s shock 2-0 defeat to Konyaspor in the Turkish Super League after he had missed training sessions on Thursday and Friday.
Osimhen’s impact was greatly missed in that encounter as the Lions missed the chance to increase their lead at the top of the league standings.
Fenerbahce’s 1-1 draw against Kasimpasa on Monday meant their lead at the top now stands at just two points after 23 rounds of matches.
In positive news, the Super Eagles forward was spotted in Monday’s training session at the Kemerburgaz Metin Oktay Facilities, putting him firmly in contention to start against Juventus.
His return comes at a pivotal time as the Turkish champions hope to avoid any slip-up as they chase qualification for the next round.
Barring any underwhelming display in Italy, Galatasaray will progress to the Round of 16 of the Champions League, where a clash against Liverpool or Tottenham Hotspur awaits them.
