Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku has fired a warning to Arsenal ahead of their crucial title showdown next weekend.
City capitalized on Arsenal’s defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday, by recording a convincing 3-0 win over Chelsea in their Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
The win means the lead at the top is now six points ahead of next weekend’s clash, although Manchester City have a game in hand.
Speaking after the clash, Doku who scored his side’s third goal of the encounter, believes the title race is far from over.
“I would be crazy if I didn’t believe, I believe the race is on. We have a big game now, we’re going to recover well and look forward to it, Doku said.
“I watched the Arsenal game and when I saw them lose, I saw that the Premier League is really unpredictable.
We were also focused on our own game. Winning here is not a given, so that we did it today is exceptional.”
After a goalless first half, Manchester City upped the tempo in the second half and scored three times in 17 minutes to seal the win.
Nico O’Reilly opened scoring, before Marc Guehi added a second, with Rayan Cherki providing the assists for both goals.
Doku then completed scoring after a mistake from Moises Caicedo, as City now have only a six-point deficit to catch up on at the top.
“If we win [next weekend], it is a big punch towards them. If we lose, it’s in their hands and we have to wait for them to lose. But if we win, it’s in our hands and I prefer to have it in my hands”, Doku continued.
They will come with hunger. They don’t want to just give it to us so we have to go and take it. Trust me, we’ll be well prepared”, the Belgian forward concluded.
