O’Reilly hails Cherki’s influence at Manchester City after Arsenal win

Nico O’Reilly has heaped praises on teammate Rayan Cherki after his magical performance in Manchester City’s 2-1 win over Arsenal on Sunday.

Cherki continued his fine form for the Cityzens with a stunning opener that set the tone for victory as Manchester City closed the gap at the top of the standings to three points.

The Frenchman has enjoyed an impressive debut season so far and was once again influential in Sunday’s clash, with a moment of magic that turned Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes on his way to scoring the first goal.

Speaking after the match, O’Reilly who netted a brace in City’s 2-0 win over Arsenal in the EFL Cup final in March, was full of admiration for his teammate.

“It makes life easier for all of us when he can go out and do that magic”, O’Reilly said of Cherki.

“We all know how good of a player he is and when he can go and show it in these big games.”

Manchester City blew the title race wide open after securing a 2-1 win over Arsenal on Sunday.

The gap at the top is now three points, with City facing Burnley on Wednesday in their outstanding game and could now move top with a win on that encounter.

Cherki broke the deadlock in the 16th minute, but Kai Havertz was gifted an equalizer by a mistake from Gianluigi Donnarumma few seconds later.

Erling Haaland grabbed the winner in the second half and while Arsenal piled late pressure in search of a goal, City held on to seal a crucial win.

“He’s massive for all of us. I enjoyed it a lot. A great win, the crowd were amazing today. I’m buzzing with everything”, O’Reilly concluded.

Manchester City now face a must-win clash against Burnley on Wednesday as they hope to return to the summit of the Premier League standings.
