Man City’s Bernardo Silva targets title after Arsenal win

Bernardo Silva has set his sights firmly on the Premier League title after Manchester City secured a vital 2-1 victory over Arsenal, closing the gap on the league leaders.

In a pulsating encounter at the Etihad Stadium, City struck first through Rayan Cherki, whose brilliant solo effort lit up the contest.

However, Arsenal responded almost immediately, with Kai Havertz restoring parity to set up an intense battle.

As the game swung from end to end, both sides came close, hitting the woodwork multiple times.

Yet, momentum eventually tilted City’s way when Erling Haaland stepped up to fire home the decisive goal midway through the second half, sending the home crowd into celebration.

“Yeah very big [win],” began Bernardo in his interview after the game.

“It puts us in a position that if we win the game in hand we’re on the same points.

“If you look two weeks ago this didn’t look very likely. A tough game, a good game and we’re happy that we can be on the same points.”

Despite the win, Bernardo acknowledged the fine margins that defined the contest, especially after a brief lapse that allowed Arsenal back into the game.

“I thought we were very good until we made the mistake and we changed the mood a bit after the 30th minute.

“The second half was tough, it looked like we were in control, we had more possession, but they were always dangerous, they had two big chances.

“These big games are like this, the small margins make the difference. Overall we played a good game. We were there, our fans were there, so I’m really proud.

“It’s a long season. A lot of small details didn’t go our way earlier this season. Unlucky plays that we had, we missed a lot of chances and today things went our way. I’m really happy.”

With the title race heating up, City’s latest triumph has injected fresh belief into the squad, especially as they now hold a game in hand that could prove decisive.

At the same time, Bernardo reflected on his emotional final season at the club, having already confirmed his departure after a glittering nine-year spell filled with silverware.

“I made the decision [to leave] a long time ago so all season it’s been emotional for me because I knew my decision,” he said.

“I just want to finish on a good end with trophies and I’m doing my best for this Club until the end.”

As the campaign enters its final stretch, Manchester City are now firmly back in contention—fuelled by experience, momentum, and a captain determined to end his journey on a high.
