Igor Tudor hails Spurs draw at Liverpool as ‘something big’

Igor Tudor insisted he is not concerned about his managerial future after Tottenham Hotspur secured a dramatic late draw against Liverpool in the Premier League.

Spurs snatched a crucial point at Anfield thanks to a 90th-minute equaliser from Richarlison, who struck late to cancel out Liverpool’s earlier lead and give the visitors a 1-1 result.

The goal not only salvaged a valuable point but also offered some breathing space for Tudor, who had endured a difficult start after replacing Thomas Frank.

Before the trip to Anfield, Tottenham had been struggling near the bottom of the table and had failed to win since Tudor took charge.

However, the late goal brought renewed belief to a side battling to avoid relegation.

Despite the pressure surrounding his role, the Croatian coach made it clear that he does not dwell on speculation about his future.

“I am coaching 15 years, never was thinking one second about my future,” Tudor said.

“I never think about my future, my past, I always think about training tomorrow, how to help the players.

“I don’t read nothing, don’t watch nothing, future is just imagination, future don’t exist. It’s a constant thing of today, of tomorrow, training.”

The result also provided a morale boost for Tottenham, who had previously endured a difficult run of form that included a seven-match losing streak before Tudor’s arrival.

According to the Spurs boss, the draw felt like a turning point for a squad that showed resilience despite several absences.

“(It was a) good team spirit, seeing the circumstances the team was in today coming here at Anfield with 12 players (absent),” he added.

“So this is something big. We stayed in the game, we believed, I felt that we could score the goal, the players also felt it, so it’s nice.”

Even so, Tudor acknowledged that Tottenham’s primary objective remains survival in the Premier League, with the club sitting just one point above the relegation zone.

“It’s a long way to our goal, which is to stay in the Premier League.

“But today was important to show what they showed, independent of the result.”

Looking ahead, Tottenham face a critical period that includes a challenging UEFA Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid, followed by a crucial league encounter against Nottingham Forest.

For Tudor and his players, the late point at Anfield may not solve all their problems; but it could prove to be the spark Spurs need in their fight to remain in the Premier League.
