De Zerbi demands improvement from Tottenham Hotspur ahead of Wolves clash

Roberto De Zerbi has urged Tottenham Hotspur players to show an improvement in mentality if they are to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season.

Spurs occupy the final relegation spot with just five matches left to play and are in real danger of dropping to the SkyBet Championship, with the club without a league win so far in 2026.

They showed signs of improvement in their last outing against Brighton, but De Zerbi knows the North London club must secure a maximum 15 points from their remaining games to stand any chance of retaining their top-flight status.

“We are suffering, they are suffering because it is not easy to play in Tottenham in this condition of the table, but I said they have to be stronger,” De Zerbi said.

“We have to live every part of the day waiting for a win and preparing for a win because I think with a win we can change this part of the season.”

Tottenham visit the Molineux to play relegated Wolves, knowing that anything rather than a win could spell doom.

The game also gives them a chance to finally end their poor league run, although Wolves’ would not be just pushovers despite their status.

“It’s a tough game because they (Wolves) have nothing to lose. It’s an important game for us, for sure, but we have to be able to play with not too much pressure,” De Zerbi added.

“Sometimes when one team is losing too many games, the rumours are not nice,” he said, adding that some people question the seriousness of the players. It is not like this in this case.

“I found good players, good guys, serious players and they follow me. They believe in my words because I am able to recognise the eyes of the players”, he concluded.

Nottingham Forest thrashed Sunderland 5-0 on Friday night, leaving Tottenham with much work to do in their own encounter on Saturday.
