Former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood has hailed Spurs’ display as a “perfect team performance” following their vital 2-1 victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park.
In a high-stakes clash, Tottenham Hotspur delivered when it mattered most, with goals from Conor Gallagher and Richarlison sealing back-to-back league wins.
As a result, Spurs climbed out of the relegation zone, gaining momentum at a crucial stage of the season.
From kickoff, Tottenham showed intent, pressing high and executing their game plan with precision.
Meanwhile, their direct approach and quick transitions caused Villa consistent problems, especially in wide areas where they stretched the pitch and attacked with purpose.
Reflecting on the performance, Sherwood emphasized both the tactical discipline and collective effort behind the win.
“Huge, it’s massive to get back-to-back wins in a relegation battle,” he said.
“Everything fell into plan but you have to perform well. The way he set his team up was absolutely magnificent.
“He kept it simple. They were playing to Richarlison and he got in my default because of injuries – but I wanted him to play. He had scored nien goals in a very poor Tottenham team. He is a warrior, he will fight for it.
“They set traps and won every second ball. They played forward quicker, got it to wide areas and filled up the box.
“It was a perfect team performance. Absolutely magnificent for them. They got a lift with Brentford beating West Ham but it means nothing unless you go and capitalise.
“It was more than just about heart. It was a team performance. That was the best performance Tottenham have put in all season. I was really impressed by it. A great day for the fans.”
As the relegation battle intensifies, Spurs have now found rhythm at the right time. Consequently, if they maintain this level of cohesion and execution, their survival hopes could shift from uncertainty to belief in the weeks ahead.
