Jeremie Frimpong expressed frustration with the outcome after Liverpool were forced to settle for a goalless draw against Leeds United on New Year’s Day.
The Whites became the first side to hold the Reds to a draw at Anfield since Manchester United in December 2023, while it was also their first clean sheet in the league since August.
Leeds United also held the Premier League champions to a 3-3 draw in the reverse fixture last month and produced another stubborn performance to grab a point in the New Year’s Day clash.
Speaking after the match, Frimpong enjoyed an impressive outing in the right-wing position was very disappointed as his side failed to grab maximum points.
“Frustrating – we wanted to win the game. They defended well. At the end of the day, 0-0 very frustrating, but onto the next game”, the Dutch defender stated.
“They defended really well. Obviously we tried, but we didn’t try hard enough. We had a couple, I had a couple I think I should have delivered the ball better.”
Liverpool dominated the clash and had several chances to go ahead in the first half, the best being Hugo Ekitike’s header which was straight at the goalkeeper.
Leeds brought on Calvert-Lewin in the second half and the striker who had scored in his last six appearances was very unlucky not to have scored a winner at Anfield.
He finished into the net but was marginally offside, with his strike chalked off in the process.
“Training, recover, we know what we can do, we have created a lot of chances. We need to go into the next game and do what we need to do but better”, Frimpong added.
“We know what we should do, we know the movements and we know the patterns.”
Liverpool remain fourth on the standings, while Leeds United are in 16th place as both sides face Fulham and Manchester United respectively this weekend.
