Brighton recorded a dominant 3-0 win over Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday, to close in on a top seven finish in the standings with just two games remaining.
The Seagulls faced the already relegated Wolves and knew that a win would move them closer to an European spot, while they could also still qualify for the UEFA Champions League if they finish in sixth place.
Chelsea had dropped points at Liverpool earlier in the day, giving Brighton the chance to extend the gap and they did just that with a comfortable win to move two points clear of the Brentford in eighth and four clear of the Blues in ninth.
Jack Hinshelwood set them up for a big result when he scored after just 35 seconds into the clash, marking their fastest ever goal in Premier League history.
It became two only a few minutes later when Lewis Dunk marked his return to the lineup with a header, setting Brighton on the way to victory.
Kaoru Mitoma hit the side-netting, before Danny Welbeck was also denied by a good save from the Wolves goalkeeper as Brighton went 2-0 ahead into the break.
Yerson Mosquera headed straight at the crossbar in the second half as Wolves improved, but Brighton continued to pile pressure on their goal and got a third late on when Yankuba Minteh fired home.
Wolves remain without a win away from home in the Premier League since April 2025 in what has been a very difficult season for the West Midlands club.
Meanwhile, Brighton are now closer than ever to a return to Europe. With only two games left, they need to win just one to seal a top seven finish, while victories in both of their matches could even qualify them for the Champions League if Aston Villa finishes fifth and win the Europa League.
