Andre says he wants to become a key part of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ future after signing a new long-term contract at Molineux.
The Brazilian midfielder recently committed to a fresh four-year deal and is now fully focused on helping Wolves secure an immediate return to the Premier League following relegation to the Championship.
Andre, who has become one of the most influential players in the squad since arriving from Fluminense, admitted both the club’s ambition and his relationship with manager Rob Edwards played major roles in his decision to stay.
Speaking after signing his new deal, Andre made it clear the squad understands the responsibility ahead of next season.
“I’m very happy to sign a new contract here. I’m very happy to be signing this contract with this club because it’s a club that I really like, and I love being here,” he said.
“It’s been a tough season, and during this difficult period that this season has been, I think it’s now up to the players and coaches to do their part, and now I just want to work as hard as possible to come back to the Premier League.”
The midfielder also thanked the club for showing faith in him and stressed that Wolves must raise their standards in the Championship.
“I want to say thank you to the club for the confidence they have in me and I’m very proud to be here. Now I need to help more inside the pitch.
“We’re going to face a difficult competition in the Championship, as it’s a very hard tournament, but we all need to be at our best to win the games.
“We need to work more, and we need to give more of ourselves every day. I think Rob has a good plan for us, and he will help us a lot as players. Now we need to just work hard to come back to the Premier League.”
Andre praised Edwards for the confidence he has shown since taking charge and believes Wolves are building a squad capable of competing at the top again.
“Well, about Rob – ‘Gaffer’ – he gives me a lot of confidence, so I am very grateful to him for everything he has done for me since he arrived, and I really hope to help on the pitch.
“I really want to help him. He’s a sensational guy who deserves to take the club back to the Premier League.
“With the players who are coming in, I believe it will be a very strong squad in which he will have complete control of the situation.
“I hope that our team can return to the Premier League and may we have many happy years at Wolverhampton.”
The 24-year-old also revealed that Edwards personally outlined the club’s ambitious plans for the future.
“Rob said he has complete confidence in me and he promised me that he was going to build a very competitive team this season, that the club is only thinking about returning to the Premier League this season.
“I am very happy for all the trust that he has given me and for all the conversations. I believe we will have a great team not only for this year, but for the coming seasons as well.”
Andre ended by outlining his ambition to help Wolves build something sustainable both for next season and beyond.
“I really want to be a part of the present and the future of the club. They’re giving me this support so I can stay with the club and make it a competitive team.
“The most important thing is that we’re not only competitive for next year, but for future ones too, and then we have everything to make a great team and continue making history here at the club.”
