Yamal, Ferran Torres make Barcelona history with Zarra trophy

Barcelona’s remarkable 2025/26 season has produced yet another major milestone after Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres were crowned joint winners of the prestigious Zarra Trophy.

The Barca duo finished as the highest-scoring Spanish players in La Liga, each netting 16 league goals to secure the award for the first time in the club’s history.

It marks a historic breakthrough for the Catalan giants, who had never previously produced a Zarra Trophy winner since the honour was introduced during the 2005/06 campaign.

Under Hansi Flick, Barcelona dominated Spanish football this season, reclaiming the La Liga title while several players delivered standout individual performances across the campaign.

Yamal and Ferran now join an elite list of previous winners that includes Spanish football icons such as David Villa, Aritz Aduriz, Iago Aspas and Gerard Moreno.

Although Villa previously played for Barcelona, he never lifted the award while representing the Blaugrana.

The attacking pair were instrumental throughout Barcelona’s title-winning run, consistently delivering goals in crucial moments as Flick’s side finished the campaign strongly.

Their combined attacking chemistry became one of the defining stories of Barcelona’s season, with both forwards ending the campaign one goal ahead of Real Sociedad captain Mikel Oyarzabal in the race for the trophy.

At just 18 years old, Yamal continues to cement his status as one of world football’s brightest young stars, while Ferran enjoyed arguably his finest season in a Barcelona shirt.

The Zarra Trophy success adds to an already historic season for Barcelona on the individual front.

Goalkeeper Joan Garcia also secured the Zamora Trophy after an outstanding campaign between the sticks, meaning Barcelona claimed three major individual La Liga awards in the same season for the very first time.

With Flick delivering immediate success and young stars continuing to shine, Barcelona’s future looks brighter than ever heading into the new campaign.
