Bristol City have confirmed the appointment of Michael Skubala as their new head coach following his remarkable title-winning campaign with Lincoln City.
The English manager departs Sincil Bank after leading the Imps to the League One championship, collecting an impressive 103 points and securing promotion to the Championship for the first time in 65 years.
Skubala has signed a three-year contract with the Robins, keeping him at Ashton Gate until 2029 as the club looks to build a competitive future under his leadership.
Bristol City CEO Charlie Boss expressed his excitement after securing the services of one of the most highly-rated coaches in the English Football League.
“We are delighted that Michael has agreed to be our new manager,” said Boss.
“Michael’s leadership qualities stood out through the interview process and were clearly evident during a title-winning season with Lincoln City.
“We are excited about what he will bring to Bristol City.”
The appointment represents a significant move for Bristol City as they aim to strengthen their position and push forward under a manager who has recently delivered one of the standout campaigns in League One.
Following Skubala’s departure, Lincoln City have moved quickly to maintain continuity by promoting from within.
The club confirmed that Chris Cohen and Tom Shaw, who both played key roles as assistant head coaches during the title-winning season, will take charge as co-head coaches.
The duo now inherit a squad full of confidence after a historic promotion campaign and will be tasked with leading Lincoln into a new era in the Championship.
Skubala leaves Lincoln having firmly etched his name into the club’s history books.
His achievement in delivering the League One title and ending the club’s 65-year wait for second-tier football will be remembered as one of the most successful periods in modern Lincoln City history.
Now, a fresh challenge awaits at Bristol City as he looks to replicate that success on a bigger stage.
