Rob Edwards has blamed Wolves profligacy in front of goal for their disappointing 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday.
The league bottom side suffered yet another defeat despite an improved display and have themselves to blame after missing several goalscoring opportunities.
They even scored an early goal through Mateus Mané, but the header was ruled out for offside in the buildup against Rodrigo Gomes, while they forced the Cherries goalkeeper into several saves.
However, it was Bournemouth who took the lead in the first half, capitalizing on a mistake as Eli Junior Kroupi scored after he had been teed up by Amine Adli.
Speaking after the match, Edward’s expressed disappointment over the result as his side chances of remaining in the top-flight next season reduced further.
“We started the game very well, but then after probably 20 minutes or so made one or two mistakes that played into their hands with the way they want to play with their counter press. That gave them some belief and the game they wanted for the rest of the first half”, the Wolves manager revealed.
Wolves were much improved in the second half, but continued to waste more goal scoring chances.
They even struck the woodwork late in the second half through Yerson Mosquera as they continued their search for an equalizer.
However, Bournemouth grabbed a second in stoppage-time when new signing Rayan provided the assist for Alex Scott to score.
“We were very dominant in the second half, we’ve created a lot of chances and had a lot of shots, a lot on target. We’ve got to be more ruthless.”
Wolves remain rooted to the bottom of the Premier League standings following their latest defeat, while Bournemouth are up to 12th after their third win in four league matches.
