Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti, has decided to leave his role as head coach of Real Madrid at the end of the season.
The 65-year old was linked with a move away from the Los Blancos in 2023, with interest from the Brazil National team. He however extended his contract until 2026 in December 2023, and has now revealed his intentions of leaving the club at the end of the season, despite still having a year left on his contract.
Ancelotti joined Real Madrid from English side Everton, for a second stint in June 2021 following the resignation of Zinedine Zidane from his role.
In December 2024, the former Chelsea manager became the most decorated coach in Real Madrid’s history after winning the FIFA Intercontinental cup, defeating Mexican finalists Pachuca 3-0 in the final, to bring his trophy tally at the club to 15 trophies.
In a hugely successful second stint, Ancelotti has won two Laliga trophies, two UEFA Champions League trophies, two UEFA Super cup trophies, two Spanish Super cup trophies, one Copa Del Rey title, one FIFA Club World cup and the FIFA Intercontinental cup won recently.
The former AC Milan manager who has been subject of criticism due to the Los Blancos poor performances in the El Clasico, with two damaging defeats to Barcelona, is now expected to leave the club regardless of how much success is achieved when the season ends.
