Greece side Olympiacos are reportedly close to the signature of Nigerian defender Bruno Onyemaechi from Portuguese side Boavista.
The former Greek champions are hoping to secure a move for the 25-year old this January, as they look to bolster their ranks as they look to reclaim the league crown they last won in 2022.
Despite a challenging season as they currently sit bottom of the Portuguese Primera division with just twelve points gathered from the first 18 matches, Onyemaechi has been one of the most impressive performers for the Portuguese side this season.
The former Feirense defender has featured in all of the club’s league matches this season, scoring three times and creating one assist, and was among the goalscorer when the Panthers were beaten 3-2 at home by Casa Pia on Monday.
The Super Eagles man versatility is a pivotal aspect of his game, as he can feature predominantly as a left-back and also as a left winger, a major reason the Greece side are interested in securing his services.
Turkish giants Trabzonspor were leading the race for his signature earlier in the transfer window, but with less than two weeks until the end of the winter window, Olympiacos have reportedly submitted an offer worth €2.5 million for the Nigerian international and are close to his signature.
Financial constraints might force Boavista to sell the 25-year old and a deal should happen at the right amount, which is a big step in the Super Eagles star career.
