Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has revealed one important ‘positive’ from the ongoing campaign despite his side enduring an absolutely shambolic time of things in the Premier League.
United are currently languishing in the bottom-half of the Premier League table, sitting in 15th position after 27 games. Their table position is a perfect reflection of their performances on the pitch, with the Red Devils recording just 3 wins from their last 11 games.
Next up for Amorim’s side is a crunch clash against old rival Arsenal. Manchester United came up trumps when both sides met in the FA Cup earlier this season, with the Red Devils going on to claim a penalty shootout win.
The stakes will however be different this time with Arsenal looking to reduce league leaders Liverpool’s lead at the top to 13 points and United looking to build some sort of momentum in the league and finish their season well.
Despite all of United’s struggles, Amorim remains optimistic as he believes this difficult period will help shape the future of the club.
“In terms of the results, it’s bad,” Amorim told Premier League Productions. “Also, the performances are not improving a lot, to be honest.
“The good thing is that we are learning a lot. We are changing a lot of things, but you cannot see it. Here in Carrington, the way we want to do things. I’m understanding the players and doing, in my head, what is the future of the squad.
“And that can be really important next year, but there is also a risk, when you are planning and doing and thinking to the future, you have to pay attention to the present.
“And the present is really hard in the moment because the results and the performances are not there.”
