Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has committed his future to the club after months of speculation surrounding his future.
The Egyptian maestro who was set to be out of contract at the Reds next summer with rumors linking him with a move to Saudi Arabia, has now signed a two-year extension keeping him at Anfield until 2027.
The 32-year old joined Liverpool from Italian side AS Roma in 2017 and has contributed to 243 goals and 109 assists in 393 appearances.
“Of course I’m very excited,” said Salah to Liverpool’s official club channels. “We have a great team now. Before also we had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football.
It’s great, I had my best years here. I played eight years, hopefully it’s going to be 10. Enjoying my life here, enjoying my football. I had the best years in my career.”
This season, the former Chelsea winger has scored 32 goals and provided a further 22 assists in all competitions, with the Reds pushing for a 20th league crown as they are currently 11 points above second-placed Arsenal with seven games remaining.
Salah has had a hugely successful impact at Anfield winning the UEFA Champions League, the English Premier League, the FA cup, the Carabao Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup in his eight years at the club.
“I would like to say to [the fans], I am very, very happy to be here. I signed here because I believe we can win a lot of big trophies together.
Keep supporting us and we’ll give it our best, and hopefully in the future we’re going to win more trophies”, the Egyptian superstar added.
The news comes as a massive boost for Arne Slot’s Liverpool side ahead of their weekend’s clash against West Ham United, with one eye on the title.
